Historic Sierra Vista Neighborhood Association finally was able to erect a neighborhood identity sign and now the city wants it taken down because “any type of sign not expressly permitted in this title is prohibited”, a blanket statement without any rationale.
Our appeal to this decision WAS DENIED by the Design Committee on August 18, 2022 at 4:30pm, Civic Center Meeting Rooms 1&2, 311 Vernon Street, Roseville.
There was overwhelming support by the over 2 dozen neighbors who showed up and who spoke in support of our sign.
Next steps are being decided.
– Media attention to our struggle is being considered.
– An appeal to City Council. Networking with the other older neighborhoods that pre-date the era of Subdivision Signs for support and perhaps our venture paves the way for other communities to identify themselves similarly.
– Inquiring about an Insurance policy or secured funds for future maintenance is being discussed as that was a board concern.
